Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc. is a company comprising
shareholders who are living retired Barbadians that have represented the West
Indies at Cricket. There were originally forty-two members
of this newly formed group. One of the founder members, Sir Clyde
Walcott has since died. Before
his death he was named as one of the nine icons along with Sir
Garfield Sobers, Sir Everton Weekes,
Wesley “Wes” Hall, Charlie Griffith, Seymour Nurse, Joel Garner,
Gordon Greenidge and Desmond
“We have all these great men who represented Barbados and the West
Indies and they deserve to be honoured,” said Wes Hall, former great fast
bowler and a past president of the West Indies Cricket Board.
The Legends aim to celebrate Barbados’ cricketing past and its
heroes. They will also make celebrity appearances around the cricket world.
Their office will be based at Herbert House, which is located near the famous
Kensington Oval. The building is being transformed into offices, a museum, a
restaurant and a bar that will be operational in April 2007.
